Chocolate Pastor Delight
Yields 1 cake
Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1½ teaspoon baking powder
- 2 stick butter
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Icing:
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 stick butter
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
Directions
- Cake:
- Combine sugar, flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. In small bowl combine butter, water, and cocoa. Using a microwave, bring to a boil. Pour over flour mixture. Mix at medium speed until completely mixed. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 sheet pan.
- Bake at 350F for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean-ish.
- Icing: 4. Combine sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl. Combine butter, milk, and cocoa powder in a microwave-safe dish and bring to a boil. Add hot cocoa mixture to sugar and beat completely.
